Honor Our Vets

 Honor Our VetsHonor Our Vets!

What does Veterans Day stand for? It’s a celebration to honor America’s veterans who have served in the Armed Forces for their patriotism, love of their country, and their willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good. Veterans Day is also known as the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month aka Armistice Day. However in 1978, President Gerald R. Ford signed a new law returning this day back to Veterans Day because it carried significant historical and patriotic value to Americans and veterans that deserved to be recognized.

It’s time to stand up and thank those men and women, moms and dads, brothers and sisters who have sacrificed so much. Thank those that have served and continue to serve and protect our country. Show a little appreciation to those you know and make their Veterans Day a memorable one. Put a sweet smile on their faces by giving back. Make up a personalized gift, a candy basket, a care package or more.

Memorial Day Observations

Memorial Day 2016

Memorial Day weekend is just around the corner.  It marks the beginning of summer, spending more time with family and friends, and other fun things like more barbecues, playing in the pool, planning vacations and more. It is also time to reflect and honor the men and women who have served and are still serving in our armed forces. Time to show how proud we are to be an American! Support them by wearing your red, white, and blue, displaying that American flag proudly and with honor.

Red, White, & Blue LightingCandy Concepts, Inc. is the answer to your home or business needs. Let us help you with your retail needs for various types of facilities like neighborhood country stores, cafes’, bakeries, convenience stores, restaurants, and more.  We are here to help you. Now let’s get started! We have laid out a few products that will help with decorating and setting up a candy buffet. Also, as an extra bonus below, there is a game plan on the basics of setting up your event.

Light up area’s around your food tables, dessert tables, beverage tables, or in your kitchen with this cute little idea. Here we have our decorative Red, White, or Blue Fairy Lights that come in 4” or 6” lengths submerged into a sealed clear glass mason jar. The accent lighting LED lights are battery operated by two coin cell batteries that are included and replaceable. A variation of this jar is our very attractive 1 ¼ Gallon Bell Jars with Lids that we have also pictured in our candy section below. Any clear attractive container works well with this scenario and we have several to choose from.  Check out Candy Concepts website for various glass containers.

The 2 Quart Colored Metal Buckets are definitely being adding to my July 4th decoration Celebration Bucketscollection but only in the red, white, and blue color scheme. They will make great condiment holders for the tables. I plan to include paper towels, salt & pepper, ketchup, mustard, and hot sauce. Add a little white and blue cloth bows to the handle maybe. May even include disposable cameras to get other’s viewpoint on things. Don’t limit yourself to just these items, be creative and come up with your own purpose for the display buckets. Just remember these buckets are not water friendly, but they are a great idea for displaying wrapped candy too.

Finding decorations that go along with the military scheme and the red, white, and blue patriotic colors are easy. Select what you like best and do what’s best for your pocketbook. But what is fun and exciting for kids and adults is incorporating a candy buffet that match the color scheme. Listed below are a few variations from Candy Concepts, Inc. that you can choose from online that I personally know taste wonderfully.

Patriotic Red, White, and Blue CandyGummy Patriot Stars are fruit flavored gummies shaped as stars in the red, white, and blue colors. Use for candy dishes, adding atop cakes, cupcakes as decorations or as is. They are easy to eat by all ages. But be careful they are heat sensitive as most candies are so it might be a good idea to have your candy buffet set up inside. Patriot Mini Chocolate Hearts are foil wrapped solid milk chocolates. The shiny foil wrapping includes the red, white, and blue stars and stripes décor. You can purchase these chocolates in 5 or 10 lb. increments. Peppermint Candy Sticks aka circus sticks are a fun candy to have and useful for other things as well. They also come individually wrapped in clear wrapping to show off their twirling red, white, and blue stripes. Add them to water to slightly change the flavor. Some adults have been known to use them in their adult beverages as stir sticks to add a slight hint of flavor. Red, White, and Blue Gumball Mix is always fun and very eye catching in any glass container. Easy to grab and go for most people. Great for decorating tables too. Flavors included are as follows: red is cherry, white is fruit, and blue is blueberry.Camouflage Hummer with Candy

For and extra bit of fun, we have our Army Hummer with Candy. In honoring your returned Veterans, it come in a green camouflage and tan camouflage color!  A delightful pullback toy that includes candy. Stick Candy is a favorite of all ages as well! Your red color is the Strawberry Rock Candy Sticks, white is called the Rock Candy Sticks, and blue is Blue Raspberry Rock Candy Sticks. Mix together and add into one of our 1 ¼ Gallon Bell Jars with Lids to maintain freshness.Red, White, Blue Candy Decorations

Don’t forget to accessorize your candy buffet with our Candy Buffet Kit. It comes with three blue scoops sizes 2oz, 3oz, 4ozs and two 6” tongs one red and one white.

What’s our first plan of action now? Below you can find a suggestive outline that might help you in preparation for your event. As most of you already know, Memorial Day is known for picnics, parties, and outdoor celebrations. Ask a couple of your close neighborhood friends to help plan the event. You can schedule girls night out for a meeting or go out to lunch and make plans for your holiday event. Delegate task to those you know can handle it. For example if Mary is the art teacher at school, she can help with finding a few students to do face paintings. Okay time to make some plans and decisions:

  • Decide what type of event you wish to host. Both can be held outside but it is always a good idea to have a backup plan in case the weather doesn’t want to cooperate. So if you have a small place, make sure you have extra-large commercial tents available:
    • A casual event is more along the lines of picnics, barbecues, paper plates, and your invited guest bringing a covered dish. It starts at lunch time and ends whenever.
    • A formal event is great if you are planning to honor a veteran or families of veterans. Held around dinner time or dusk and in the evening while it is quiet.
  • Decide on decorations. This part is probably the easy part because your colors and theme has already been decided for you. Red, white, and blue has been and always will be the color scheme for Memorial Day along with the American flag patterns on the decorations, your foods, desserts, and more. You just have to decide how much decorating you want to do and how much to spend.
  • Party Foods are typically the all-American comfort foods like Hamburgers and Hotdogs, Baked Beans, Potato Salad, and Coleslaw. Don’t forget the homemade apple pies, cakes, and more. Add a candy display bar with an assortment of flavors all in red, white and blue colors in see through containers.
  • Entertainment is a fun one, especially if you are having kids attending. Decide how big you want to go with this one because this could get costly.
    • Face Painting – Most of the time you can find high school students in your neighborhood who are very artistic in your own backyard that may be interested in helping you with this one. Delegate one of those students to come up with 4 or 5 others to make a face painting schedule for throughout the day. Remember this is volunteer work.
    • Balloon Twisting – Don’t be afraid to ask the other parents about this one. A lot of parents have hired companies/people for birthday parties. Again, you may find students or parents in your neighborhood that truly enjoy doing this. Also incorporate a time limit on this one, especially if you are only able to fine one person. No luck finding someone locally, do a search on google. Do balloon twister in your city and state and see what comes up. Might need to delegate this to another parent helper.
    • Inflatable Slides – These are fun and they also offer bouncy castles too. There is a rental fee, so just know you are fore warned. You may have to sign a waiver about accidents and not holding the people that own the inflatables responsible. I just want you to keep that in mind.
    • Music – Decide what type of music. Think about your guest attending, their age, gender, what generation of music are most of your guest from. Keeping the music upbeat is great but not too upbeat that people do not understand it like the new generation music unless you live in the suburbs of nothing but young people. Live music is always enjoyable but is also costly unless you have a family member or know someone in the band. If you are having an all-day event, you definitely want music playing in the background. Make sure you set up all electronics away from water and the pool areas for safety reasons.
    • Games for both adults and kids – Try to plan the big games that everyone can play and that are not dangerous. If you have the space, whiffle ball is so much fun, volleyball of course, corn hole tournaments, slip and slide for the kids-yet some of the adults will indulge too. Several ideas are posted on pinterest.

Planning possibilities are endless and can be fun. Make it fun. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. These planning steps can be used for other events as well and they are only here to hopefully help and guide you. It’s easy, so don’t stress. Always come up with a plan B or a backup plan on location, especially if it’s not at your house and outside, if you have a band or deejay because emergencies happen, and if you decide to have your food catered in. Having that plan in place helps ease your stress level.

Happy Memorial Day from Candy Concepts Inc

SUMMER TIME CELEBRATIONS

SUMMER TIME CELEBRATIONS

Summer Time PartiesPhoto by A. Garrison

As the summer vastly approaches us, we start to think about what kind of fun and excitement, we can get into this summer.  Whether it’s going to the beach, cookouts with family and friends, swimming, taking a vacation, or just sitting outside relaxing to the sounds of the outdoors. Smell that wonderful fresh air that’s blowing ever so lightly against our faces and listening to the birds singing from afar. I know I truly enjoy all those wonderful things.

The kids are jumping for joy with happiness and excitement because school will once again be closed for the summer with no homework to worry about, or PE class to attend. Yet looking forward to sleepovers with their friends, playing little league baseball, and having water balloon contests, but maybe just hanging with mom and dad and playing video games all day too.

Retailer’s put a smile on your customer’s faces and give them a breath of fresh air before summer arrives by creating a show stopping candy display reminding them that fun times are heading our way.  Make them take notice of the patriotic red, white, and blue candy plus a whole lot more. Point out adventures they get to look forward to that are coming like having their toes in the sand at the beach, cookouts, and water play with balloons, plastic water toys plus so much more.

Red-White-And-Blue-CandiesPatriotic Candy –  Salute and pay tribute by showing your support with your colors of red, white, and blue! I mean who doesn’t love chocolate? Try our heart shaped chocolates wrapped in foil stars and stripes along with gummi stars and starsmania.

Add a red, white, and blue peppermint stick to your ice cold beverage as a stir stick. Don’t forget baseballs and bubblegum!

Summer Time Novelty CandyBeach & Sea CreaturesSummertime fun means going to the beach and collecting shells for a lot of people. Instead of picking up shells this year try our chocolate beach shells. Swimming and getting into the ocean may be a challenge for some but not for others. Either way try encountering some of our gummi sea creatures on land like the sharks, crabs, starfish, jelly filled turtles, lobsters, and whales.

SerenityCandy pebbles and gummi flowers and butterflies all together with family and a nice quiet evening. Enjoy the delicious tasting chocolates and gummies while the kids are playing outside with their flash pops and glow stick pops and playing freeze tag and catching lightening bugs and eating their gummy lightening bug candy. We are all young at heart no matter what age we are. It’s just a number.

One of the human’s five senses is smell. Using your nose is always a pleasurable experience when the weather starts getting warmer beginning with fresh cut grass on a Saturday morning to smelling charcoal and barbecue on the a hot grill and experimenting with new barbecue sauces and dry rubs.

As you get ready for your festivities for the day, we smile with enjoyment as we see friends and guest walk into the backyard with the look of amazement as they see the wonderful changes that have been made with the décor. Incorporate some of Candy Concept Inc.’s fun and exciting summer party ideas like decorating lights for adding ambiance, ice/wine buckets, various centerpiece ideas and more to set the mood for an enlightening night of happiness along with lots of fun and laughs.

Decorating – Changing the appearance of your everyday atmosphere is always fun. Here are some easy and simple ways to decorate.LED String Lights

  • Add accent lights around your picnic tables, the porch, or along the fence line. Rope lights are ideal for these areas. Easy to hang and fasten. Great for under your umbrella over your outdoor dining table too.
  • Select the lights that work best for you but keep in mind, if you have lights that have all these features; clear lights, changing colored lights, standard non-flashing lights, or flash steadily lights, you can have a variety of looks whenever you choose. Secure them just right and leave them up all summer. Select a different feature each time you have guest and it changes the appearance.
  • Have fun with the submersible lights, add them to the fountain or pond, or add them to the punch bowl. Kids can have fun with these especially with a pool. If you want to add a little light on things inside, add them to your flower vases. They are definitely eye catching and will stir up the conversations.
  • Grab various colored fairy lights and string them along the center of the dining tables, throughout your buffet line, and beverage table for some added inspiration. I love the fairy lights, I have used them and still do to this day.
  • Color coordinate your parties if you want. Especially red, white, and blue for July 4th, Memorial Day, and Labor Day. Pink for “It’s A Girl” baby showers or blue for “It’s a Boy.” Don’t forget to order the candy to match, Candy Concepts offers several variations from lollipops, chocolate cigars, to bubblegum cigars.

Summer Buffet Table

Table Setting & Décor – Decorating your tables can depend on how you’re feeling for the day or if you have a theme in mind. It can be extremely funny with fun & games to beautiful, elegant, and sophisticated. Centerpieces come in various shapes and forms, colors and sizes. They depend of what type of occasion you are planning to host whether it’s patriotic, a wedding, country, rustic, and so on.

Center Pieces

  • Candy Concepts Inc. offers a variety of idea’s for centerpieces with a rustic appeal, a linen wire basket that can be paired with any occasion, candle holders of course, and vases for flowers for your every day occasion, to a more elegant sophisticated appeal items plus a whole lot more. Fun part about centerpieces, we get to use creativity with any and all of these displays. Personalize your centerpiece with the chalkboard display. Turn it into a flower pot, a vase for flowers, or even a condiment holder. These are ideal for assigned seating events and adding a special message on the side of the centerpiece for each table. “Happy Birthday Bill-Table 4” or Happy 30th Anniversary Mike & Molly Table 2”. Keep it simple and have one message on all the tables too!
  • Setting up buffet style, incorporate table risers to add height and dimension. Family and friends always look at me and say oh wow that’s a cool idea. Add some small vases with submersible lights and or fairy lights and intertwine them within your food display. Another awesome idea too is adding lit L.E.D. light bases under food dishes. These are fun for an evening outdoor suit and tie dinner under your dinner plates.
  • Don’t forget your serving utensils! Scoops, ladles, tongs, spoons, your choice of clear acrylic, colored, sizes run from small, medium, and large, made from plastic, or metal. You cannot make the wrong choice here. Pick to your liking. But I will tell you my preference, metal scoops go with ice, candy, and things like wrapped bulk items. Plastic and acrylic scoops, mainly acrylic go with food for scooping or handling food that is being served, same for tongs.

Buffet Style Meal – Achieving the right look for your summer occasion is a goal we all strive for. Here are a few ideas you may or may not want to use.Three Tier Buffet Risers

  • Incorporate table risers of various shapes and sizes for height differential. Some risers can be placed on top the table top décor and others can be hidden under the tablecloth for a very different appeal but I would not recommend this for the whole table.
  • Select clear acrylic bowls of various sizes to display your food because it adds color and brightens up the table. Select matching tongs or serving spoons for portions.
  • Looking to serve appetizers before your main meal, add in the three tier buffet display for a way to get those appetizers noticed. Add our appetizer trays if you are having a wait staff serve your appetizers.
  • For dessert, add one of our cupcake display racks for various flavored cupcakes, an acrylic blossom cup with stem tray for puddings or ice cream. Don’t forget to add those lights mentioned earlier for decorating your buffet table. They do spruce up the place a bit. Serving ice cream? Create a candy buffet topper with our 9 jar display. Include nine different choices of your favorite toppings for ice cream. Some of my favorites are gummies, M&M’s, crushed Oreo cookies, nuts and chopped up chocolate peanut butter pieces. Fun thing is you can include what you and your family really enjoy.

Beverage BucketsThe beverage section seems to be noticed by the men more so than the ladies. No offense guys!  Eye appealing to all, add a little rustic charm to your outdoor festivities with our various shaped galvanized and steel tubs.Elegant-Beverage-Chillers-and-Tubs

  • Keep your drinks cold like sodas, canned beverages, bottled waters, and juice. These beverage buckets come in all shapes and sizes so they are perfect for almost any occasion.
  • Wine connoisseur, these buckets are wonderful for displaying and serving your wine collections. Again choose the size that best fits your need. Let’s face it, you don’t need a 130 gallon tub for three bottles of wine unless you plan to make your own wine and have a grape stomping contest.
  • Looking for a more retro look or theme, try our bamboo tub or the metal beverage container. They definitely add versatility into the mix.
  • I have used these tubs for salad bars and buffet lines. They are great for adding rustic charm to an outdoor weddings and things of that nature. In some cases, I did line the buckets with parchment paper.
  • Last but not least, ice buckets, use these for ice buckets, picking apples off the tree, bobbing for apples and more. Have fun with them. Even use them as a bathtub for your pet.

Summer will be over before you know it. Kids will go back to school, the house will be quiet once again. It seems the older we get the faster time goes by. When I was little growing up on the farm, both my grandparents told me when you get older time gets faster and faster. Yes, that is true. So keep that in mind and add some livelihood to your summer this year. You won’t regret the memories, the priceless smiles, and time well spent with family and friends over some summer time novelties and family celebrations.

Come and choose us, Candy Concepts Inc. to be your shopping haven for your Summer Party Supplies today! Be safe and have a ball!
